The Bonham Lady Purple Warriors opened their 2024 season with a 5-3 win at North Forney Monday.
Reyleigh Shockley was the winning pitcher for Bonham. Shockley (1-0) pitched 7 innings , allowing 3 runs , 8 hits while striking out 4 and walking two.
The Lady Purple Warriors (1-0) sluggers had 8 hits. They were led by Kaitlyn Capehart, Piper Stafford, Parker Patton, Katy Harrison, Alayna Laisy and Jewyll Hemby. Capehart was 2-for-4 with a double and 2 runs scored. Stafford was 1-for three. Patton went 1-for-2 with a go ahead RBI triple, Harrison was 2-for-2 with a run scored and Laisy was 1-for-2 with an RBI. Meanwhile, Hemby was 1-for-3 with an RBI sacrifice fly.
The Lady Purple Warriors head coach was pleased
“Great start to our season,” Mickey Englutt, Bonham Purple Warriors head softball coach said. “I saw lots of promising things.”
The Bonham Lady Purple Warriors will play in the 25th Annual Tournament of Champions this week and at home Tuesday against Wolfe City.
Many of the Lady Purple Warriors games will be broadcast live on the radio on Rewind 1039 in Bonham.
