The Texas Rangers are going to the World Series after an 11-4 win over the Astros in game 7 in the ALCS Monday in Houston. The Rangers World Series birth is their first since 2011.
The Rangers took a 1-nothing lead on a solo home run by Corey Seager in the top of the first inning. They never looked back. The Rangers took the series 4-games-to-3. The road team won all 7 games in the series.
Rangers right fielder Adolis was named the ALCS MVP. Garcia homered twice Monday. Garcia went 4-5 with 2 HR’s and 5 RBI. Garcia’s 15 RBI in the ALCS was a major league baseball championship series record.
Rangers skipper Bruce Bochy wasn’t supersized with Garcia’s performance
“He’s (Garcia) one of our guys I’ll start with that and we’re not supersized about what he did,” Bruce Bochy, Texas Rangers manager said. ” I’ve seen him do it during the year. This guy is an incredible talent.”
Nathaniel Lowe also hit a home run for the Rangers Monday.
The Rangers will play the winner of the NLCS Friday in Arlington in game 1 of the World Series. The Rangers will have the home field advantage. The Phillies and Diamondbacks play game 7 of the NLCS Tuesday.
Montgomery was the winning pitcher for Texas
Monday’s winning pitcher for Texas was Jordan Montgomery who is 3-0 in the postseason. Montgomery pitched 2 1/3 innings in relief of starter Max Shcherzer.
